Teach you how to avoid the laser “heavy cold”

The autumn wind is blowing, the winter is approaching, the miles are frozen, and the snow is floating. In the cold winter temperature conditions, if you don’t have careful maintenance, the laser working hard day and night may also have a “heavy cold”: when the ambient temperature drops below the freezing point, the coolant in the laser will change from liquid to solid. The volume of solid coolant will increase significantly, which will create the risk of rising water pipes. Once the internal components are cracked, it is likely to face the dilemma of returning to the factory, which will bring greater economic losses to users.

People get a bad cold and can take medicine to drip, and how to prevent and cure the “heavy cold” of the laser? Don’t worry, now teach you how to prevent it!

(1)
Ensure that the signal linkage between the water cooler and the laser is in effect, affecting the core components of the laser in the event of a malfunction of the waterproof cooler.

(2)
Do not turn off the water cooler, especially at night, please ensure that the water cooler does not stop, and the water temperature can be set between 5~10 °C to ensure the normal flow of the coolant and the temperature is above the freezing point.

(3)
Antifreeze is added to the cooling water. The antifreeze solution is generally recommended to be a mixture of ethanol and water. For every 10% increase in the ethanol content, the freezing point of the mixture drops by about 10 °C to determine the amount of ethanol added. Of course, we can also choose antifreeze in the market, such as Clariant AntifrogenN antifreeze, the ratio of antifreeze to deionized water is 3:7, according to this ratio can increase the freezing point of the coolant to -20 °C. In addition to the two solutions mentioned above, customers should not use car or other machine tool antifreeze instead, because these antifreezes may contain components that corrode metal parts and rubber water pipes, and even cause irreparable damage to the fiber.

(4)
If the laser is not used for a long time, drain the coolant from the laser. Simple drainage is not possible, we can completely empty the coolant by means of external gas introduction. The specific method is to remove the water pipe of the water inlet from the laser, and compress the water inlet with compressed gas (pressure < 3 bar) until the residual coolant of the internal water circuit is drained from the water outlet, as shown in the following figure.

Flexible use of the above methods, do a good job of prevention, you can certainly maintain a good laser, to prevent the laser “heavy cold” in winter.
